Alive is a Korean zombie film directed by Cho Il-hyeong and produced with Zip Cinema and Perspective Pictures. The film stars two famous actors Yoo Ah-in and Park Shin-hye. The film hits Korean theaters on April 26, 2020 and on the Netflix platform on September 8, 2020.
Joon-woo is a gamer who spends most of the day streaming in his apartment. One day, friends in the game start asking for help and telling Joon-woo to watch TV. Joon-woo turns on the TV to watch live television about a mysterious disease spreading across the country, he looks outside and sees everyone biting each other and running scattered. Joon-woo is shocked by the images, he tightly closes the door in his apartment. When he opens the door, he accidentally lets a neighbor burst in and when he learns that the person is infected with Joon-woo, he tries to kick him out.
As the days pass and more and more people become infected, Joon-woo runs out of food and water, and he hallucinates about family members. One day he received voicemail from his parents and learned that his whole family was infected. In anger, Joon-woo breaks down furniture and kills an infected person who runs away when infected by infected people.
Loneliness causes Joon-woo to prepare to commit suicide. Suddenly he saw a laser light and discovered that there was still a survivor. Yoo-bin, who lives in the opposite building, is in constant contact for days. Joon-woo is hungry due to lack of food, Yoo-bin tries to throw a baseball tied to a rope into her balcony but the ball doesn't reach Joon-woo's place. Then, Joon-woo uses Drones to bring ropes from his apartment to Yoo-bin and Yoo-bin then delivers the food to Joon-woo through a homemade zip line.
When Joon-woo runs out of food, he goes to the adjacent houses to see if there is any food, he sees the radio and some leftover food. Joon-woo sends a walkie-talkie and some food to Yoo-bin and they start talking to each other over the radio, the infected people have flooded most of the building. They plan to approach Joon-woo's eighth apartment that Yoo-bin believes is empty and safe there. Yoo-bin climbs down and with Joon-woo's help, they reach the eighth floor. But one infected person alarmed a bunch of other people, fortunately they were saved by a man. However, this man gives medicine to food, he locks Joon-woo's arm and pulls Yoo-bin into his infected wife's room so she can eat her. Joon-woo saves Yoo-bin and she shoots the infected couple with a gun.
Gunfire makes both of them discovered by infected people, Yoo-bin wants them both dead instead of getting infected, when Joon-woo is about to shoot, they both hear the rescue helicopter. The two decided to go to the rooftop of the building. However, the infected people chase after them, and when they are about to die when the army shoots at the infected people from a helicopter, Joon-woo and Yoo-bin are taken aboard. They know that the military is making its way to the survivors thanks to messages of help online.
