Batman Forever is a 1995 American film, produced by Tim Burton and directed by Joel Schumacher. Based on the Batman character from DC Comics, with Val Kilmer replacing Michael Keaton in the lead role. The plot focuses on Batman trying to stop Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and Riddler (Jim Carrey) in their villainous scheme to drain information from all the brains in Gotham City. He gains allegiance from psychiatrist Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) and orphan Dick Grayson (Chris O'Donnell).
The film has a change of tone compared to previous films, more familiar, since Warner Bros. considered that the previous film, Batman Returns (1992), had a poor performance at the box office due to its violence and dark tones. The production was troubled, with many actors considered for the main role, and Kilmer got into conflicts with the director and the rest of the team. Batman Forever received both positive and negative reviews after its release, but it was a hit with the public, grossing more than $ 336 million worldwide and becoming the second highest grossing film of 1995.
