Despicable Me 3 is a 2017 American computer-animated comedy film produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the sequel to Despicable Me 2 (2013), the third main installment, and the fourth installment overall in the Despicable Me franchise. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, with Illumination production/character designer Eric Guillon as the co-director, and written by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, the film stars the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate, Dana Gaier, and Julie Andrews.
Like the 2 previous films, Despicable Me 3 continues with the key characters and each section has new characters. This time, Gru will meet his twin brother, the notorious criminal Balthazar Bratt. Although each has its own characteristics and purpose that is well exploited, it seems that the characters are spread out quite evenly, no one stands out more than anyone. The main development will focus on three characters: Gru and Dru confronting Balthazar Bratt, the rest of the characters, though still playing a funny role, appear very little. Of course, the Minions are still an indispensable main feature of the movie and they will make you laugh a lot.
Steve Carell as Gru, the spy and former supervillain turned Anti-Villain League agent, Margo, Edith, and Agnes' adoptive father, and Lucy's husband.
Carell also voices Dru, Gru's long-lost twin brother and the girls' adoptive uncle.
Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde, an Anti-Villain League agent, Gru's wife and the girls' adoptive mother.
Trey Parker as Balthazar Bratt, a supervillain and former child star who grows up to become obsessed with the character he played in the 1980s and is bent on world domination.
Miranda Cosgrove as Margo, Gru and Lucy's oldest and clever adopted daughter.
Dana Gaier as Edith, Gru and Lucy's middle tomboyish adopted daughter.
Nev Scharrel as Agnes, Gru and Lucy's youngest innocent and immature adopted daughter.
Pierre Coffin as Mel, Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and the Minions
Although there are many shortcomings in the script, Despicable Me 3 is still a entertaining movie worth watching, with humorous details, will definitely help the audience relax. Besides, the Minions still create effects as usual, surely after premiere, the Minions ringtone trend or the items of this character will be a very hot item. The visual and sound effects of the movie are not too excellent, but at an acceptable level.
In short, to make a funny movie to draw the audience to the cinema is not difficult, but to make a good movie to leave a mark on the audience's heart is not easy. The audience can easily laugh when the Minions dance, sing or do silly tricks, but let the audience recognize this is a good movie with attractive and attractive content.
