The White Storm 2: Drug Lords (2019) is a Hong Kong action film written and directed by Herman Yau and released in 2019 in Hong Kong1,2. It is the sequel to The War of the Cartels (2013) but, despite this, it has nothing to do with this first film, only Louis Koo appears in both but in different roles each time
In 2004, member Jizo (Louis Koo) of the trio was caught selling drugs in his nightclub. His boss, Yu Nam (Kent Cheng) punishes Jizo by ordering fellow countryman Yu Shun-tin (Andy Lau) to chop off his finger and expel him from the organization. Yu, who witnessed his father being addicted to drugs during his childhood and drug addiction as a deadly enemy, ultimately decides to resign from the Trifarus and live a normal life.
In the Hong Kong drug market, dealer Jizo (Louis Koo) is gradually starting to collaborate with some Mexican drug lords across the border. For his part, Yu Shun-tin (Andy Lau), a former member of the triads turned philanthropist and finance tycoon, who witnessed his father's drug use as a child and whose son died of the same plague, abhors drugs which he considers absolute evil. Hence, he is offering a bounty of HK $ 100 million to eliminate Hong Kong's main drug dealer, causing unrest in society. Chief Superintendent Lam Ching-fung (Michael Miu) intends to arrest Jizo, but is now responsible for his protection because of the bounty. While feeling helpless, Lam himself is drawn to the bounty offered by Yu and is faced with an inner struggle between good and evil. A final battle breaks out between the two tycoons who were once brothers in the same triad.
