At work, a man she calls Ni (meaning "number two") begins to show a romantic interest in her. She begins to spend time with him outside of work, though she still dreams of being with Ichi. While alone at her apartment, she spends her free time researching extinct animals on Wikipedia, especially ammonium fossils, and can even order fossils by mail.
Before committing to Ni, she decided that she should try to reunite with Ichi. She devised a way to meet him by impersonating another classmate on social media and inviting their middle school class to a reunion. Ichi appears during the reunion and Yoshika learns that he has moved to Tokyo. A group of classmates living in Tokyo agree to meet again in one of their apartments for the others to meet. Yoshika attends a second reunion, where she fantasizes Ichi is remembering her and paintings of him as a prince she once painted as a child, but realizes that he doesn't seem to recognize her.
She continues to spend time with Ni and eventually develops real feelings for him. They have a date at a zoo and agree to settle down. However, Yoshika soon becomes embarrassed when she discovers that her colleague and friend Kurumi (Anna Ishibashi) has told Ni that she is a virgin who has never been kissed. She tells him that she wants to pursue Ichi so they can break up and get maternity leave so she can avoid her colleagues and Ni.
