The story begins in 1994. An outstanding student, Shen Chia-yi, is very popular among her teachers and classmates. Ko Ching-teng, a mischievous and impoverished student, claims that he has no interest in her, despite being her classmate since middle school. One day, Ching-teng was caught masturbating during class, and the principal pulled him back, placing him in front of Chia-yi.
Upon graduation, Ching-teng enrolled in National Chiao Tung University. Chia-Yi, who didn't do well on her entrance exam because she got sick that day, only tried to enter Taipei National Teachers University with her mediocre test results. Bored and sad, she is comforted by Ching-teng, who calls her long distance calls almost every night from college. During the winter break that year, the two started their first "date" in which Ching-teng asked Chia-yi if she loved him. However, out of fear that she would say no, he decided that he didn't want to hear her answer (it was later revealed that her answer would be "yes"). Ching-teng then held a match night and invited Chia-yi to watch, hoping to impress her with her "strength". On the contrary, Chia-yi felt childish when Ching-teng hurt herself for no reason. This caused Ching-teng to stir, erupted into an argument that caused the two to break up.
During the two years after the breakup, Ching-teng had no contact with Chia-yi. He qualified for postgraduate research course at Tunghai University, where he started writing stories online. Ching-teng only contacted Chia-yi again after the 921 earthquake, when he phoned to ask if she was okay. During the long conversation, both complained that they had no destiny to be a couple.
Years later, in 2005, Chia-yi suddenly called Ching-teng to tell him she was getting married. All of her old friends gathered at the wedding, making jokes and trying to embarrass her elderly husband. They are amazed that their past feelings have turned into deep friendship and serenity. Ching-teng began writing a web novel about his experiences with Chia-yi.
Later, when they gathered to congratulate the bride and groom, the friends joked that they could kiss the bride. The husband said that anyone who wanted to kiss the bride had to kiss him like that first. Ching-teng grabbed the groom and pushed him onto the table, kissing him like he would kiss Chia-yi. During their kiss, he remembers how he regretted their fight years ago, and what would have happened if he apologized for being childish
“Its a beautiful story and will take you into the world of mute and deaf. This movie got me feel all mushy inside. The best part is most of the movie is shot in sign language..and despite of this the story will reach to your heart
The characters communicate without speaking but they're able to get their message off as if they were speaking. Its a story about two sisters who are deaf and a guy falling in love with the younger one. It covers the innocent love...so well....and the ending twist was so good. I loved the awkwardness at the end.The acting is great, I have no complaints about any of it. The guy who plays Tian Kuo, Peng Eddie, does a good job, his character was so cute! It gives you a break from your typical love story and instead provides something a little less complicated but just as enjoyable. Definately worth your time. I'll give this 8.5/10”
