The fifth season of Gotham, an American television series based on DC Comics characters related to the Batman franchise, revolves around the characters of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne. The season is produced by Primrose Hill Productions, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television, with Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and John Stephens serving as executive producers. The season draws inspiration from and adapts elements from the comic book stories Batman: Year One, Batman: The Long Halloween, and Batman: No Man's Land. The subtitle for the season is Legend of the Dark Knight.

After an attack, chaos reigns over Gotham City, isolated from the rest of the world. Jim Gordon tries to get help from the mainland but to no avail. He must protect the inhabitants of Gotham, which has become a veritable graveyard city where the villains rule. But perhaps he will have to call on their help to carry out his plan to save the city?
